The South-Moravian town of Vyškov, with 23 000 inhabitants, lies in the Vyškov Gate on the upper reaches of the river Haná, approximately 30 kilometres from Brno. For centuries it has been the cultural, social and economic centre of the region. Vyškov has a rich history, thanks to which it has been one of the leading Moravian settlements from time immemorial. Today it is chiefly a modern European town, offering its inhabitants and visitors a number of ways of spending a pleasant time.
